LIFE FRANCA promotes flood risk anticipation and communication in the Alps.
The project has organised several training courses and seminars for different professionals with the objective of improving their skills in managing and communicating risks to the public.
Flood risk communication addresses complex and sometimes controversial issues, and has to deal with different degrees of risk perception.
It is not sufficient to simply provide technical and scientific information from experts. Citizens and stakeholders must be informed and educated, but also assisted in accepting the risk and encouraged to take measures to reduce it.
The courses have been intended for different professionals, including administrators, journalists and specialists, who address the issue of risk communication from different perspectives.
